Vikings Buffet Restaurant at the Mall of Asia

When we say buffet we usually refer to the ones at hotels, like Sofitel's Spiral or EDSA Shangri-la's  Heat. Vikings Luxury Buffet Restaurant is said to offer hotel quality buffet. For me, maybe too exaggerated. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be. The food was just average and the service needs some improvement. There was even a blackout for 5 minutes. I was really disappointed with Vikings.

When I got there, the place was full. Good thing we had reservations. The place was well lighted. I did love the interior specially the buffet tables looking like viking boats. But the walking areas near the buffet tables are a bit tight and can easily get crowded. Imagine lots of people lining up on the buffet tables during peak hours.

Most of the tables are rectangular in shape but there are round tables available at front. They also have function rooms for large groups of customers.

Vikings Buffet offers European, American, Japanese, Chinese and Filipino dishes. They have fresh crab and oyster near the Japanese section. They also offer shabu shabu. But we didn't try it. Overall the food was not that bad. They had trouble refilling the food and the staff are not that organized. They walk around all over the place with those rolling trays for the refills. I had to play "patintero" with them whenever I came across one.

I did enjoy the Vikings' Japanese section. They have colorful and bright sushi and maki. They serve miso soup on teapot with teacups. First time I drank Miso soup like tea.

I'm a beef type of person, so I was looking for the steaks and finally found it at the end of the restaurant. I had a slice of beef cooked medium rare. It wasn't that good. I'm a picky person when it comes to beef. It was pretty much hard to swallow. Maybe it's the cooking or maybe the meat. I don't really know.

Vikings serves beer! Yes drink all you can beer. They have two of these beer faucets in the restaurant. Aside from beer they have fresh fruit juices which was not that fresh and mostly water. They also have coffee machines just beside the beer.

Dessert section was ok, not as many as hotel buffets. They have cakes, halo halo, filipino sticky desserts, ice cream and frozen yogurt. If you love frozen yogurt then you'll love their frozen yogurt machine. Yes! unlimited frozen yogurt.

Overall my dining experience at Vikings Buffet Restaurant wasn't that great. But they are still new and hopefully will improve. I don't know if they are still on their soft opening stage, but the quality and service is far from those buffets at 5 star hotels. But then again they are 50% cheaper so it's not fair to compare them to 5 star hotel buffets. Maybe try to go there after a few more months.

Found some cute things in the restaurant. They have miniature faucets and toilet bowls in the restrooms and Viking Shield table numbers.

I think kailangan pa ng konting improvement. May mga ilang dishes maalat and may iba naman walang lasa but overall pwede na.

Definitely!^_^

I've eaten here several times and nag complain ako before about the grill section.. Their reason was, they grill as you order.. They don't put any extenders daw in their food, so they don't let it sit out like other buffet places. Freshness is their target.

Anyhow, I commend their efforts on that end. Anyhow, its only 888 bucks!!! what more can you ask for? Vikings is definitely way better than Yucky Mix and Dads diba.

haha let's try eating there again before the end of the year and see if there's any improvement..^_^

Ganun? But my review of Vikings Buffet is just for the present. Malay mo in the future they would improve. If you have extra money to spare then won't hurt to try. Just don't expect too much, For now...^_^ I'll try to eat there again just to be fair with Vikings, considering they're new.:)

talaga?nag price increase na sila? we are planning pa naman to eat there this week, kaso nagmahal na sila, baka not worth it na..pwede malaman rate for weekday lunch?and may time rin ba sila like 11-2pm?

I've updated the price rates. Seems like they added a new height category for big kids. Tsk. They also added 200 pesos for holidays and weekends. Check out the changes above..

ive tried vikings last sat for our culinary tour. and i must say its worth the price. masarap yung mga food. attentive ung mga waiters. though medyo crowded lang pero na enjoy pa rin namin yung food. i would recommend it to my friends

Needs improvement pa din. sa sobrang crowded, hindi ko masyadong naenjoy yung food. Dapat hindi na sila nag accommodate beyond 2pm because sobrang tagal to wait for our turn to eat then nagmadali pa kami kumain because last call for the food and drinks by 2:30p.m. Dami ko pa hindi natry na food dun. =(

How would this buffet fare against others like Spiral, Circles? Or would you consider this at par with Yakimix, Dad's etc?

Vikings compares badly to the well-known hotel buffets, simply because it has compromised quality and comfort for a cheaper price. I agree that you shouldn't expect much. How "sulit" can it be if you tend to stuff yourself silly in these places, especially those with substandard fare?

Ate there yesterday...dame pa ren nde natry...ang blis ng lastcall nila...pero oknaren for

I agree! we celebrated my hubby's bday there.. and everything's kinda ok naman... it's just that di nmn mxado na-enjoy yung super lakad ng mejo far just to get what we want to eat.. lo and behold, last call na daw and di nmin nmalayan na 2pm na pla and we were there mga 11am.. pero mind you, super busog kami sa daming choices.. pero not all of it eh natikman namin... when we saw our photos nga, mejo nanghinyang kami kc ang onti lang pla ng nakain nmn kng tutuusin... tsk..tsk... pero babawi kami next month! since we're treating our parent's 45th wedding anniversary! so Vikings... be prepared for us!!!! nyaha!
