Overnight Stay at Manila Hotel

The Manila Hotel has been renovating some parts of the hotel. We took advantage of the newly renovated rooms and requested them specifically. We had an overnight stay at the hotel to celebrate father's day with my family. We just stayed the whole night at our room and ordered yellowcab pizza and KFC.

The Hotel
The Manila Hotel is the oldest hotel in the Philippines. You would feel its age as you walk the hotel's lobby. It's unique to other hotels in manila with its ceiling made from Philippine mahogany. But even if it's old, it is still very elegant. The lobby is huge, really made for grand entrances.

Manila hotel is one of the most secured hotels in the country since most of the elites and high ranking politicians usually stay there. It's the only hotel in the Philippines where they have their own CT scanners, like what they use at airports. They have strict visiting policies where you cannot have visitors from 10pm to 7am. What I really loved about Manila Hotel is that they are the only hotel in Manila that offers free valet to everyone, even if you're not a guest.

The Rooms
We stayed in a newly renovated Grand Deluxe Room. The interior is very Filipino and like most of Manila Hotel, has wood carvings/panels all over the room. The bed was a bit hard for my back. I forgot to take photos of the restrooms, they have a bathtub and shower separately. Bathtub even has its own TV screen. The room was clean and very spacious. Even if it's good for only 2 persons I think you can fit 4 slim people with those beds.

Here are the Room Features:
  • 40" LCD TV
  • New interior
  • Senso memory foam mattress
  • L’Occitane bathroom amenities
  • mp3 dockable clocks
  • New RFID Ving Card door lock system
  • Mini bar ref by Dometic
  • Re-varnished lamps
  • Safety Vault
  • TV Armoire

Cafe Ilang-Ilang
Same as most of Manila Hotel, Cafe Ilang-Ilang was also recently renovated. I can't compare the old look because I've never eaten here before, but the new look is great. I like how the buffet tables are positioned and how the different sizes of tables are organized. We only had breakfast buffet their so I can't really comment that much on the food. Their breakfast consists of the usual things like, bread, bacon, ham, egg, sausages etc. More about our Breakfast at Cafe Ilang-Ilang.

Overall
Highly recommended to foreigners or non-Filipino. This will give you a sense of Filipino culture.

Manila Hotel Price per Night:
For the Grand Deluxe or Superior Deluxe it would normally cost around Php9,000 per night inclusive of the breakfast buffet. But my sister had a friend who works there and gave here coupons. So we ended up paying Php5,000++ only per room. Nice discount right?
